As part of a comprehensive renovation of a listed farmstead, we were asked to advise on viable options for the use of renewable energy.
After thorough consultation with the Client and our specialist heating engineers, we selected biomass as the appropriate solution. This involved installing a 45/50kW HDG wood-pellet boiler and 1250 litre accumulator, together with the construction of a 10 cu m wood-pellet store. Pre-insulated flow & return pipes buried deep beneath the drive connect the the plant room, located in the barns, to the house. Careful selection of the component parts (and especially auger system) have resulted in a highly reliable and energy-efficient solution. The variable power output of the HDG model installed has allowed the Client the flexibility to opt for domestic or commercial RHI post-installation.
